Officials and players of Kumasi-based Division One League side Asokwa Deportivo were given enough beatings during their clash with Starke FC in Dunkwa, reports from the venue indicated.
Short video clips taken with phones showed Deportivo President Amidu Camarat being stoned while some of his players begged some the fans for mercy.
Speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com after the game, the Deportivo President narrated the ordeal of his side during the match.
“We had taken permission from the GFA to film the game. We informed all the parties involved at the pre-match and we all agreed,” Camarat said.
“While the game was ongoing, the home fans felt the referee was being too fair in the match and wanted us to stop filming the game.
“They attacked us and took our camera, smashed it and got it destroyed.
“We were on the field during the violent moments when we heard shouts of goal. As to how it came, I don’t know.
“That was when the violent fans decided to leave the field,” he concluded.
Violence keeps engulfing football matches in Ghana, especially in the Division One League as the country commemorates 15 years May 9th disaster victims.
