Aspire Football Dreams Academy launched

The ninth edition of the Aspire Football Dreams Academy, aimed at empowering youth, identifying football talents and developing them, has been launched at the British Council Hall, in Accra.

The Academy set up to train and educate future stars, coaches and administrative development at the grassroots and also provide thousands of youth with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills to become professional footballers.

A team of Aspire coaches will train selected 50 boys at El Wak Stadium on October 8, after which the best three players who would be selected to Aspire Academy in Doha in January for the World finals.

Speaking at the launch, the country Director of the Academy, Captain Andy Sam, said ‘‘the project provides participants a platform for developing their skills and learning the basics of the game in a proper way. This is also to change people’s lifestyle and vision for the future and also the greatest joy I get is to see the desires of the boys come to fruition by giving them opportunities”.

Mr. Fred Crenstil, Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), expressed excitement about Academy and pledged his outfit’s support to develop the talents.

He said ‘‘I am impressed about Aspire Football Dreams by bringing football to the doorstep of Ghanaians and GFA is attached to develop the young ones. We will continue to support and partner the Academy in all their programs’’.

The Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Lawoetey Tetteh commended the academy for their significant contribution to Ghana sports and the country’s economic development and congratulated Aspire for the support given to the various national teams for the use of Aspire Academy facilities in Doha which enabled the Satellites conquered the World in 200.
