Assifuah’s Le Havre nightmare set to end as his contract expires in summer

Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Assifuah’s Le Havre ordeal looks set to end in the summer when his contract with the club runs out.

Assifuah joined the Sky and Navy lads on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Swiss side FC Sion in 2017.

The 26-year-old has struggled for regular playing time at the club in the last two seasons.

The former Liberty Professionals attacker made 53 appearances in all competitions for the side since joining, scoring just 5 goals.

Assifuah, who has played second fiddle to Jamal Thiaré for the past two campaigns, could leave the club when his contract expires on June 30, 2020.

The French Ligue 2 has also been suspended due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The uncertainty over when they will resume means there is no knowing when the 2019-20 soccer season will actually end.

This means the league will likely to exceed the June 30th date should the French League authorities decide to resume the campaign when the coronavirus pandemic is over.

A date far from narrative since it signifies the end of the contract for the Ghanaian forward and several other players in the league.

Assifuah will therefore have to accept an extension of a few weeks.

He has featured once for the Ghana senior national team.
