Athletics: The Past Comes Alive

Sat, 11 May 2002 Source: Ghana Athletes Association

In an attempt to boost reform efforts in athletics, a number of former National Athletes, including Albion P. Kojo Mends Jr., - former Mfantsipim standout and 100 yards record holder - have expressed the desire to join the current crop of athletes in the quest for excellence both on and off the field.

The Ghana Athletics website – www.ghanaathletics.com - will soon feature a section dedicated to these pioneers and former flag bearers, many of whom where contenders on a global level.

We the current group of athletes, believe in honoring and showing respecting for those who paved the way for us. For us, the challenge is to build on the foundation that past national athletes laid and try our best to uphold the proud tradition that was established.

Simply put, we hope that as a group, the present athletes, can build a bridge for future athletes, through and with the past athletes.

Please check www.ghanaathletics.com in the near future for more details, on the extent to which these past national stars will contribute, and in what capacity they will serve given the enormous experience and resourcefulness that they bring to the table.
