Accra Great Olympics defender, Dan Kofi Wayo Quaye has backed former Hearts of Oak team, Charles Taylor for playing down on the chances of the club ahead of their game against Esperance in the Confederations Cup saying “the team lacks both quality and experience”.
Dan Quaye was a member of the 2000 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League winning team and also represented Ghana at the 2006 world cup and believes that Esperance is far ahead of Hearts in terms of experience and quality.
Speaking to sportscrusader.com, Dan Quaye said, “People must not make a mistake of comparing Hearts to the current Esperance team. They have quality and experience. They have players who have played for the club for six and seven years. So they have experienced players”.
“In terms of quality, they have about eight of their players who are playing for their various national teams. So you don’t compare. Hearts can only boast of Soulama Abdoulaye who is a material for Burkina national team and even he is always on the bench”. He added.
He however did not rule out the possibility of Hearts qualifying, saying, “football is full of miracles”.
