Atta Bright Wins 80Km Walk

Twenty eight year old Atta Bright of Ashanti region won the second 80km walk which was held over the weekend between Accra and Koforidua with a time of 8:38:40.

The walk which started at the El-wake stadium through Adenta, Aburi to Koforidua attracted walkers from Central, Ashanti, Greater Accra and the Western Regions. The first of a similar event (80km) was won by Moses Sherill of Western region in August last year with a time of 8:45:26. He however did not turn up for the second edition. This year’s second position was taken by John Segbe, Thomas Quaique was third, followed by Joseph Bello.

In an address, Mr. Peter Amoah, Executive member of the Visco walking club said as they are going for long holidays, they should not forget that they have a big task ahead of them in the years to come. They should therefore abstain from activities that would negatively affect their sporting career. He also took a length of time to thank the corporate bodies such as Alitalia, Energizer, Parleys Biscuit, Savory Hotel, Voltic, Biriwa Beach Hotel, El-wak keep fit club, U.K, Malaysia, Netherland and U.S walking associations, the Ghana Navy, Ghana National Fire Service, Vici Company of U.S, Central Regional Coordinating Council, New Balance, the foreign coach of the club Dave McGorvern, Mr. Sam Valis Akyeanu and other individuals who have helped in diverse ways in sustaining and promoting walking in Ghana.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
The Visco walking club wishes all subscribers of its walknews a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. It also thanks all those who helped in diverse ways for Ghana to be ranked 19th in the 20th world walking cup.
