Avram Grant achieves 2017 Afcon qualification target

Ghana coach Avram Grant has achieved one of the targets set in his 2-year contract to manage the Black Stars.

The Israeli trainer was tasked to do well in the last tournament in Equatorial Guinea – he led the team to the finals but lost the trophy to Ivory Coast on Penalties.

The other set target was to reach the 2017 Afcon tournament and win it as well- he qualified the team on Sunday when his team defeated Mauritius 2-0 to top Group H with 13 points.

Grant is on course to qualify the team for the fourth World Cup as they have progressed to the next stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Since he took over the team in 2014, the only competitive game he has lost is Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Senegal at the 2015 Afcon in Equatorial Guinea.
