Experienced Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has called on all Ghanaians to throw their weight behind the Black Stars as they begin their AFCON campaign against Senegal today.
Inkoom, a two-time world cup member of the Black Stars was axed from Coach Avram Grant’s final 23 man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
There has been an apathy towards the team from Ghanaians following the disappointing world cup campaign in Brazil, which was marred by bonus dispute.
But Inkoom, who is a member of Ghana’s squad which lost to Egypt in the finals of the cup of nations in 2010 says Ghanaians should support the team.
“Support is key for soccer, and I am calling on all Ghanaians to support the team today to gear them towards victory,” The former Dnipro man told Accra-based Joy FM
“All the players in camp now are not there just because it is AFCON they are there because they want to do something for the nation.”
“I am a player and I know what support means.”
