Albert Adomah and his Middlesbrough side made progress in their bid to get promotion to the English Premier League next season.

The Ghanaian and his side won away from home in their first Championship play-off game against Brentford. Middlebrough won by two goals to one with Adomah playing a great part in his side’s first goal.

The second leg of the game will be played on Friday with the winning team qualifying for the final play-off at Wembley.

In the English Premier League, Jeffrey Schlupp and his Leicester City side boosted their chances of survival with another win as they went three points clear off the relegation zone.

Leicester City beat Southampton by two goals to nil with Schlupp playing in the entire duration of the game.

Christian Atsu missed Everton’s 2-0 home loss to Sunderland on Saturday.

Ghanaian duo Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien continued their absence from football action in the Italian Serie A as AC Milan won by two goals to one against Roma on Saturday.

Ghanaian player Abdul Baba Rahman was in full football action for his Augsburg side against German Champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The Ghana international started and went on to play in the full duration of the game that saw Augsburg upset the Champions at the Allianz Arena with a single goal to nil score line.

Bobadilla was the hero for Augsburg on the day after Paul Verhaegh had missed a penalty for the away side.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper and former Liverpool player Pepe Reina was sent off earlier in the game.

Kevin-Prince Boateng was given a start in the German Bundesliga game for Schalke 04 against FC Cologne.

Schalke lost the away game by two goals to nil with Boateng getting replaced by Jefferson Farfan in the 59 minute.

Jordan Ayew found the back of the net for his FC Lorient side in their away game against Metz in the French Ligue 1. The Ghanaian forward and his side won convincingly by a 4-0 score line with Jordan grabbing the last of the four goals.

Jonathan Mensah missed the 3-2 defeat for his Evian Thonon Gaillard side against Reims in the French Ligue 1.

Afriyie Acquah and Alfred Duncan were on target for Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A on Sunday against Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu’s Udinese. Acquah started the game alongside fellow Ghanaian player Alfred Duncan for Sampdoria who were playing away from home.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu however did not play a part for Udinese in the home defeat for his side.

Roberto Soriano opened the scoring in the first half before adding a second for Sampdoria in the early minutes of the second half.

Afriyie Acquah made it three goals to nil in favour of Sampdoria with Antonio Di Natale pulling one back from the penalty spot for Udinese to make it 3-1.

Ghana international Alfred Duncan rounded the win up with a very late goals for his Sampdoria side to give them a 4-1 victory.

Acquah and Duncan played in the entire duration of the game without a booking.

Richmond Boakye Yiadom did not make the match day squad for his Atalanta side as they won away from home to Palermo. Atalanta claimed all points with a 3-2 score line.

In Belgium, Frank Acheampong played the full game for his Anderlecht side as they won by three goals to one at home.

John Boye played the full game in Turkey for his Kayseri Erciyesspor side as they drew 2-2 at home to Mersin.

Abdul Majeed Waris made a substitute appearance in the Turkish league for his Trabzonspor side. The Ghanaian replaced Erkan Zengin in the 82 minute as his side won by two goals to nil away from home.

Adam Larsen Kwarasey was in post for his Portland Timbers side in their Major League Soccer game against Montreal Impact away from home.

The Ghanaian could not keep a clean sheet but his side won by two goals to one.

Ghanaian player Ishmael Yartey also made a substitute appearance for Portland Timbers with Dominic Oduro also coming on for Montreal Impact.
