Olympique Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew is savouring a return to the Black Stars, adding his six-month hiatus has been a learning curve for him.

The 2009 World Under-20 champion confessed he “missed” the Ghana national team and will do everything within his might to make up for his absence.

Andre and his younger brother Jordan took a break from the Black Stars after falling out with handlers of the four-time Africa champions.

He said: “I missed a lot,” Ayew confessed to Accra-based Joy FM. “I learned how it is important to play for the nation. What has happened has happened and it is time for us to move on.”

It took the intervention of Ghana President John Mahama and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the Ayews to rescind their decisions. The left-footed player was quite grateful to the two and was also full of praise to Ghanaians for their support.

“Thanks to the support from Ghanaians and the fans; the father of our nation [Mahama] and the Asantehene. All these proved the country was behind me and I feel the love from the nation. I have put the past behind and to go forward.” Ayew is part of a 26-man squad called-up for the Ghana – Zambia crucial World Cup qualifying tie on September 06 in Kumasi.
