Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew says the time has come for the Black Stars to end their close to 30 year drought at the African Cup of Nations.
Ghana are four time winners of Africa's continental tournament, but have not tasted success since 1982.
Marseille midfielder Ayew said the Ghanaian squad had made steady improvement in the past few years and were confident they could bring the trophy home to their expectant fans.
"Now we've got to a level where we need to win trophies and I think that's the only way we can get satisfaction," ayew said.
"So we are going to give our best and I believe that. Personally, I am going to be very proud and happy to have done something for my country."
"I think it is even difficult to explain what this trophy can mean to Ghana and to me. I know our nation is been waiting for this for a long time now."
"They really want to have the joy of a winning team. We have a team which has been doing well, let me say since 2006, Ghana has been progressing and progressing."
Ghana will play their opening game on January 24 against Botswana in Gabon.
