André Ayew, the son of former Marseille great Abedi Pelé, is currently representing his country Ghana in the African Cup of Nations Under-20 tournament but cannot stop thinking about Brittany. Ayew, 19, is on loan at Lorient this season from Marseille. The striker has made five starts for Christian Gourcuff's team and has two goals to his name, against Saint-Etienne in Week 11 and against Sochaux in Week 7, the first League 1 goal of the youngster's career.

Ayew said: "It was difficult getting Lorient's permission to come to Rwanda to represent my country but we managed to come to an agreement. They were good to me because they were under no obligation to release me."

Bizarrely Ayew is playing in the junior version of the African Cup of Nations having already taken part in the senior competition last year. Like the decision to leave Marseille for Lorient, the player says it all adds to his experience.

"I'm at Lorient because I get to play more," he said. "But I still belong to Marseille and signed a contract extension a couple of months ago. Christian Gourcuff is a very good coach and I'm learning all the time.

"My priorities are playing well for Lorient, doing well for my country and going back to Marseille at the end of the season."
