The uncle of the Ayew brothers claims their family sees no harm in the decision not to invite the duo to the national team once more Former Ghana international Solar Ayew and uncle to Andre and Jordan Ayew says he was not surprised by coach Kwesi Appiah's decision not to name the duo in his squad to face Kenya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 8.

Local reports suggest the pair is being punished for failing to travel with the team for the return leg against Congo in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Both players justified their absence with medical reports of their health situations at that time, while Appiah defended an earlier snub saying it was due to the form of the players.

“The Ayew family just got that Andre and Jordan were not called for the game against Kenya and we think it is normal in Ghana football," Solar told Fox FM.

“For some time now, they have not been called to the national team so it’s not something new to us.

“If you will remember, the Black Stars played a lot of matches without the Ayews and so it’s a normal thing going on. If the Ayews are not of Kwesi Appiah's squad, it’s not a problem,” he said.

“I always say Andre and Jordan are Ghanaians and will keep on being Ghanaians. They will be ready to serve the country whenever the coaches call them.

"However, if they are not needed too it’s the coach's decision and he knows the players that he wants to call so I don’t think it’s a problem to the Ayews,” he added.

The Black Stars are expected to camp in Ethiopia from September 1-7 ahead of the game.
