Andre Ayew has expressed his joy at having finally completed a move to the Premier League, after secured a free transfer to Swansea City.

The Ghana international signed a four-year deal with the Swans, and upon his arrival, expressed his delight at finally having the opportunity to play in the EPL.

“Football is all about growing up and becoming a better player and a better person,” he began, speaking to the club’s official website.

“This is the next chapter. I’ve played in the Champions League etc, but now I want to make it in the Premier League,” he continued.

“I am very happy to have signed for Swansea, which is a very good club in the Premier League.

“I can’t wait to get the season started. It’s been my dream to play in the Premier League with a good club.

“Now it’s up to me to do my job, bring what I have to bring to the club because I know they will want a lot from me and expectations will be high. I will work hard and hopefully I can help the squad.

“But I’m ready to do the job and I hope to make every Swansea supporter happy.”

In a previous interview with BBC Sport, Ayew acknowledged his desire to sample the Premier League and to test himself against the ‘best in the world’.

“There are a lot of great clubs in England,” he began, “it's a great league, for me the best in the world at the moment,"

"Every player would like to test themselves with the best in the world. it's something I'm looking at. What's important is going somewhere where they can showcase themselves.”

However, despite making clear his joy at having completed a move to Swansea, Ayew did have some words of regret at leaving Olympique de Marseille—his boyhood club—behind.

“It was a very difficult decision to leave Marseille,” he began.

“I spent so many years there – I was in the youth team before breaking into the first team and stayed all of my life in Marseille,” he concluded.
