MARSEILLE have told Roberto Di Matteo he can no longer afford a player he snubbed just months earlier.
West Brom contacted the French giants regarding the availability of their Ghana World Cup star Andre Ayew but were told to forget about it unless they had £12.5million to spend.
Ironically, the Baggies were offered Ayew, 20, on loan at the start of last season but turned their noses up at the prospect and the player instead diverted to Ligue 1 outfit AC Arles-Avignon.
However after the Ghanaian winger was shortlisted for Best Young Player of the tournament in South Africa, Di Matteo tried to rekindle a move.
Marseille's response was to not only to up their asking price, but to also make Ayew completley unavailable for loan.
