Ayitey Powers, a former WBC International titleholder, has launched, "Power of the Fists," a subset under Ayitey Powers Promotions.

This program aims to propel Ghanaian boxers onto the global stage by providing them with the necessary support and opportunities to compete for world titles.

Powers, who also serves as the President of the Voice of Ghana Professional Boxers, emphasized his dedication to helping local fighters achieve international success.

Reflecting on his own experiences as a boxer, Powers highlighted the challenges he faced, particularly the financial disparities that plagued his early career.

“In my first fight in London, I fought for 20,000 pounds but later on I ended up with only 1,500 pounds. So, I am there for the boxers, to guide and promote them,” he stated.

The "Power of the Fists" promotion will officially kick off on June 29, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

A contest for the National Super Middleweight Belt have been set to mark the commencement of the promotions with some notable matchups lineup.

Fighters Ernest Akushey, known as Bahubali, and Elvis Ahorgah, also known as Soldier Boxer, will headline the competition.

This initiative marks the beginning of what Powers envisions as a regular series of bouts designed to keep boxers active and in peak condition.

At the launch of the event held on June 7, 2024, at the Game Pack in Dzorwulu, Powers underscored the necessity of consistent competition for honing the skills of Ghanaian boxers and preparing them for the world stage.

He believes that with the right backing, Ghanaian boxers can excel internationally and bring glory to the nation.

The launch event was graced by Abraham Kotei Neequaye, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), who pledged the government's support to revitalize boxing in the country.

“This particular year we are going to change the face of boxing. The Ghana Boxing Authority we are going to work with you and we are happy to be with you,” Neequaye declared.
