One-time WBC International titleholder, Ayitey Powers has announced the launch of Ayitey Powers Promotions, an initiative aimed at elevating Ghanaian boxers to the global stage.

Powers, who also serves as the President of Voice of Ghana Professional Boxers, is committed to seeing local fighters achieve world title success.

The inaugural event of this promotion will take place on June 29, 2024, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Under the theme "Power of the Fist," the event will feature competitions for both national and West Africa titles.

This marks the beginning of what Powers envisions as a regular series of bouts designed to keep boxers active and in peak condition.

"We have a lot of talented boxers, and if I look at myself, I didn’t go to school but where boxing took me, it took me very far," said Powers, a three-time national and West Africa champion.

"I want to help the up-and-coming boxers so that they can go further than I did,” he added.

Speaking to the media on May 23, 2024, Powers emphasized the need for consistent competition to hone the skills of Ghanaian boxers and prepare them for the world stage.

"They are professional boxers, so if there are no tournaments, I can promote them at least once every month or two to fight.

“I have to pay money for them to fight for a world title. If I couldn't fight for a world title and I have the capacity to support others to reach there, why not?" he stated.

Powers urged the government of Ghana to back this initiative to ensure its success and sustainability.

He believes that with the right support, Ghanaian boxers can excel internationally and bring glory to the nation.

Supporting this endeavor is Game TV, whose General Manager, Goodfelow Dei Offei, expressed the station's commitment to revitalizing boxing in Ghana.

"Our view as a TV brand is to create a niche for sports and gaming. We decided to support some selected sports, and boxing was one of them," Offei said.

"We thought that boxing also needs a facelift, so we took a decision to partner with Ayitey to start this journey."
