Accra, May 24, GNA - Thomas Azurie of Billy Kotey Gym suffered his third successive loss at the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) League after bowing to Emmanuel Obeng of Attoh Quarshie in a welterweight contest during the week eight clash last Friday. Azurie, who had lost previous contests courtesy the short distance displayed an improved performed yet, went down the traditional style. Obeng proved superior from the onset and directed countless punches at the partially-shield face of Azurie, who bled through the nose moments later.
At the start of the second round, Obeng delivered a hefty punch on Azurie's face, as he bled profusely through the nose compelling the referee to stop the contest.
Ebenezer Moni Sowah completed a double for Attoh Quarshie Gym in the welterweight division with a unanimous win over Iddrisu Yakubu of Fit Square Gym.
In the lightweight category, Michael Offei Dodoo of Attoh Quarshie maintained his unbeaten run by disposing of Emmanuel Mensah of Will Power via a unanimous win while Victor Kuwornu "Agya Koo" of Bronx Gym cruised on a split decision over Square Deal's Mathias Sulley. Fans favourite, Odoi Yemefio of De-Oak Gym announced his return with a split decision win over Evans Dodoo of Attoh Quarshie, also in the lightweight division.
Hard-hitting Benjamin Lamptey of Will Power defeated Eric Ameshikor of Attoh Quarshie, courtesy a unanimous decision, while compatriot Joshua Addy fell to Christian Dotse of Fit Square through a similar feat in the light welterweight division.
Jessy Lartey beat Samuel Yaw Addo and scored on the cards of the three judges in an all Fit Square Gym affair in the flyweight division just as, compatriot Duke Micah replicated a similar feat on Enock Okantey Mensah of Cassius Annan Neequaye (CAN) Gym in the light flyweight category.
Raphael Mensah ensured some points for Wisdom Gym with a split decision victory over Ekow Wilson of Black Panthers in the bantamweight division.
