Baba Yara Stadium is set to be closed down for a major renovation in the coming days.

Ghana's largest stadium with a seating capacity of 40,528 will be undergoing a major facelift for the first time in 11-years.

According to Kickgh.com sources, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture will announce the closure of the stadium after Asante Kotoko's campaign in the 2019/20 CAF inter-club competition.

The multi-purpose Stadium in Kumasi has not been renovated since 2008 when it hosted the Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana finished third after beating Ivory Coast.

Baba Yara Stadium has hosted two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments thus 2000 and 2008 as well as FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

It is currently the home venue of one of Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.

Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors are participating in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League and they will lock horns with Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel in the preliminary round.
