The owner of New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu, has blamed poor leadership for the ban on Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The stadium, which recently hosted Ghana’s game against Angola, was banned due to an "unsuitable playing field."
As a result, Ghana might have to host its October 2024 match against Sudan in Togo, Nigeria, or Ivory Coast.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Yakubu stated, "If you ask me, Abdul Salam Yakubu, it is bad leadership that led to the CAF stadium ban. In this country, our leaders don’t take us seriously.
"They all do what they like. They are all thinking about their interests. We had four stadia that could host CAF Category Three matches. What led to this ban? The stadia belong to the government, so all the blame should go to the government."
The ban has resulted in the dismissal of the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Dodzie Numekevor, by President Akufo-Addo on September 17, 2024.
