Bank of Ghana win tennis tournament

Tema, July 25, GNA - Bank of Ghana (BoG) Tennis Club defeated their Sakumono counterparts 3-1 in their annual friendly tennis tournament played at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday.

In the doubles, the pair of Alex Bernasko and Philip Oku opened the scores for BoG when they beat Desmond Tettey and Daniel Agyepong 9-8. The pair of Samuel Donkor and John Otoo of Sakumono put their club on level terms when they outplayed BoG's Chris Kodzeand Daniel Welbeck with a 9-3 win.

Dela Gadzegbeku and Carl Clarke restored BoG's lead when they won 9-6 against Nii Bortey and Dan Addo while Joe Donkor and Jerry Oku completed the rout for BoG when they won 9-5 against Frank Addy and Jacob Zwennes.

BoG Ladies also won against Sakumono Ladies by beating them by two straight games.

Dina Vanderpuije and her partner, Caroline Oku whacked the pair of Nana Akosua Mansah 9-0 while Roberta Kortey and Caroline Oku routed Nana Yaa and Sabina Ackah 9-2.

Mr Kwame Kyei, Chairman of the Sakumono Tennis Club said the club organised the event to test the strength and fitness of their members and it also forms a way of socialising and fraternising with other club members.
