Barclays presents 2.5 million cedis for the promotion of golf

Bondaye (Western Region), 29th June 99 -

Barclays Bank Ghana Limited has presented a cheque for 2.5 million cedis to Bondaye, near Prestea, for the promotion of golf in the area.

Mr Kobina Quansah, Managing Director of the Bank, who presented the cheque, said it was the aim of the bank to strengthen good relations with its customers through such fellowship.

He commended the Bondaye golf club for maintaining the golf course, which he said, is one of the best in the country.

A golf competition, sponsored by the bank, preceded the presentation, and attracted teams from Kumasi, Tarkwa, Benso and Bondaye gulf clubs.

In the men's division, Michael Gigigo of Bondaye golf club scored 41 points to win the competition, which was played over 36 holes, to lift the first prize of a radio cassette player?

Akosua Wirekowah of Bondaye Gulf Club who had 50 points emerged the winner of the ladies division and received a blender as her prize.
