Accra, Sept 21, GNA - Featherweight prodigy Joshua Barnor of Panix Gym earned his long awaited revenge over Fit Square Gym's Nii Ofoli Tetteh with a split decision victory during the Week 18 of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) League at the week-end at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonment.
Barnor, the overall best boxer during the maiden edition of 2006 had waited long for an opportunity to avenge a painful loss to Tetteh last September, which ended his 24-bout streak.
Nicknamed "Dragon Lee," Barnor, who had fought off weeks of inconsistency started the bout on a high note with several landing punches at the partially shielded face of Tetteh, who for once appeared ordinary.
The Panix-Gym product maintained his momentum throughout the stipulated four rounds and was rewarded with the superior points on the score cards of two judges as against one by Tetteh.
In other bouts, Jesse Lartey of Fit Square Gym beat gym-mate Emmanuel Quartey in their Bantamweight clash courtesy a split decision while Benjamin Lamptey of Will Power Gym disposed of John Tiwonitaaba of Fit Square Gym via a unanimous decision in their Light welterweight contest.
In the Lightweight division, Michael Ansah defeated Mathias Sulley via a split decision in an-all Square Deal Gym affair with Abraham Afful stopping Felix Agbozo, both of Ashaiman Gym in the first round in the same division.
