Head coach of AshGold, Bashiru Hayford has taken a strong swipe at Ghana Premier league referees and according to him they [Referees] have the needed power to render coaches jobless.

With three games to end the 2014/15 Premier league the conduct of officiating officials has been questioned by club officials and coaches as the battle of which club to win the league or get relegated continues.

The Miners hope of winning the premiership title for the first time in 19 years is currently under threat as they are being chased by second placed team Aduana Stars who have 42 points, three points adrift of the leaders [AshGold].

However, Bashiru Hayford who has been widely criticized as a bad performer in every second round of the season has voiced out his frustrations by stating that Ghana premier league referees has the power to render coaches jobless due to their poor officiating.

“Referees can dictate the pace of the game if they so wish. My concern is bad referees. A referee can render a coach hypertensive. A referee can make a coach collapse and die. A referee can render a coach homeless and jobless. A referee can make a coach wifeless because the wife can divorce the coach (if bad refereeing makes them lose their job),” Hayford told Ultimate fm.

He added: “We are doing our best to make the game enjoyable. Those who are in the middle should also do their part. If we were ordinary workers like everyone else, then they can do whatever they want. But we are not (ordinary workers). With just one blast of the whistle (if the decision is wrong), you’ll get light off (die), and you’re gone. Ofei Ansah (former Hearts of Oak coach who died after collapsing while coaching the team) is gone.”

AshGold will face Berekum Chelsea at Berekum Golden City Park coming this Sunday on match day 28.
