Asante Kotoko blew away a good opportunity to climb to the top of the league table after stuttering to a lifeless goalless draw against Bechem United in a Ghana Premier League tie at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
A win for Kotoko could have taken them to the top of the table after WA All Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of WAFA. But following the draw, bitter rivals Hearts have moved to the summit with a 0-1 win at Hasaacas.
Bechem united sat deep and gave Kotoko no space to attack from wide to secure the famous stalemate and remain unbeaten against Kotoko in the last two competitive meetings in Kumasi.
The first department produced an uninspiring display from both sides although Kotoko could have broken the deadlock as they had a couple of chances in the first 15 minutes.
The Porcupines came out in the second half rejuvenated as they threw everything at Bechem but the Hunters were able to repel all attacks.
Of all the opportunities that fell to Kotoko it was two that they should have buried in the dying embers of the match.
