Accra, Sept. 18, GNA-Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association and his partners, Maria Ben-George, Mary Asafu-Adjaye and David Owen scored 137 points, to win this year's Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited Invitational Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday. The pair of Ugo Catto, Chris Oppong, P. Hogewoning and A. Hogewoning took the second position with 133 points, while Oscar Doe and his partners, Mona Captan, Augustine Irabor and C. Yabonga placed third with 128 points. The one-day 18-Hole stable-ford competition attracted about 120 golfers.

Mr. James Marvin, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited said it is the policy of the bank to help the community in which it operates. He said the bank would continue to offer sponsorship of the event in the ensuing years. Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club said lack of sponsorship is killing the sport and called on corporate bodies to help develop the game.
