Benjamin Asare bags 2025 GhanaWeb Excellence in Sports Award

Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare won the 2025 GhanaWeb Excellence in Sports Award.

The award was to celebrate excellence in sportsmanship, athleticism, and sporting achievement. This category honours athletes, coaches, teams, and organisations that excel in various sporting disciplines within Ghana.

Four other renowned Ghanaians, aside from the Hearts of Oak skipper, were nominated for this category, including Black Queens captain Portia Boakye.

The remaining nominees were high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, Olympic athlete Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and football coach Desmond Quaye.

The GhanaWeb Excellence Awards, organised by GhanaWeb, recognises individuals, institutions, and businesses demonstrating exceptional performance, innovation, and impact in their respective fields.

This year’s event, which was held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, attracted high-profile guests from government, the private sector, civil society, and the diplomatic community, underscoring the importance of recognising excellence and leadership in national development.

The awards aim to spotlight trailblazers whose work is shaping Ghana’s economic and social progress while inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs, professionals, and change-makers.

Throughout the evening, several categories will be presented to honour achievements in areas such as business leadership, innovation, technology, and social impact.
