Berekum Chelsea register 28 for Champions League

Berekum Chelsea have submitted 28 players to the Confederation of African Football for this year’s Caf Champions League competition.

Former Ghana international Baba Armando, who was registered before the start of the season, was excluded from the squad.


The squad list is made up of three goalkeepers, 11 defenders, 10 midfielders and four attackers.


Experienced names like Charles Taylor and former Asante Kotoko captain Jordan Opoku are among the troops.


Former King Faisal playmaker Prince Papa Arko has been registered for the continent’s premier club competition after returning from Egyptian side Ismailia.


Other new faces who have joined the Blues are former King Faisal duo Awudu Nafiu and Wahab Yahaya.

Former Sekondi Hasaacas midfielder Joseph Ato Bissah was recruited in the mid-season transfer window and registered for the competition.


Chelsea, winners of last season’s Ghana Premier League, will begin their debut campaign against Liberian side LISCR.


The preliminary round first leg will be at home between the weekend of 2-4 March.


Chelsea are now second on the Ghana Premier League table, four points adrift leaders Asante Kotoko.

Defenders: Edward Kpodo, Prince Anokye, Richard Kisi Boateng, Ahmed Adams, Awudu Nafiu, Wahab Yahaya, Samuel Kyere, Alfred Arthur, Kweku Andoh, Eric Agyemang, Richard Afari.


Midfielders: Joseph Ato Bissah, Abdul Basit, Isaac Acheampong, Awudu Moro, Yaw Alexander, Jackson Owusu, Issaka Ibrahim, Jordan Opoku, Gladson Awako, Solomon Asante


Strikers: Charles Taylor, Prince Papa Arko, Musa Mohammed, Emmanuel Clottey.
