Ghana in the last few years has witnessed a significant increase in the number of betting companies operating in the country.

The involvement of the youth in the proliferation of these betting centres has sparked a debate about gambling in the country.

There is a school of thought that says betting should be curbed because it exposes the youth to social vices such as stealing, laziness, using school fees for betting purposes, among other things.

Others also believe that betting must be encouraged because aside the employment the betting companies create, they serve an avenue for the youth, particularly sports lovers to make money while supporting their favourites clubs.

Recently, reports emerged that a Sunyani-based graduate with the name Seth K has won a whopping GHC144,641 from participating in the Betway Jackpot.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, an excited Seth K revealed the plans he has for the money, which is to build a house and invest the rest for future gains.

Based on this premise, Ghanaweb TV spoke to a section of the public to solicit their views on betting and what they would have used the money for if they were as lucky as Seth K.
