Country manager of Betway Ghana, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah has explained that his outfit's decision to partner three Ghana Premier League clubs is enough demonstration and testament of their commitment to the development of football in the country.
The betting giants on Thursday February 1, announced sponsorship deals with three clubs in the Ghana Premier League. The clubs are Aduana Stars, Medeama and Liberty Professionals.
Speaking to pressmen after the event, Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah reiterated Betway’s resolve to ensuring that football in the country is developed to it utmost level.
“We are hoping to contribute and support the teams in getting them to give us football lovers the kind of football we desire. We believe that it is a good sign of our commitment to football to help build our league to the point where Ghanaians at home can smile, be happy and enjoy the football. We’ve so far seen that our football is going strong and we believe our football will get better”, Kwabena said.
He added that the impressive strides made by Aduana Stars, Liberty Professionals and Medeama convinced Betway to come on board, adding that he is hopeful the union will stand the test of time.
“If you look at these clubs you will see that these are clubs with history and they have contributed greatly to the development of football. If you look at Liberty, they have produced some of the biggest names in Ghana football. Medeama have been very consistent in our football. Aduana entered the league and won in their first season and are the current champions of the league. These are clubs with lots of pedigree and history and they are a good marker for development. So if you look at what we are doing with AshGold you will know that things will get better”, he said.
He also announced that Betway has extended its contract with 4-time league champions AshantiGold.
