Betway launches 'Talent Search' initiative

Leading sports betting company, Betway have launched a new initiative aimed at unearthing the next football star in the country.

For a country that abounds in talent with a huge fraction remaining untapped, the brief event that happened at the Alisa hotel is one that comes in handy to identify, hone and develop football talents for the nation.

The event had in attendance the deputy minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu, GFA communication director Saanie Daara, ex-Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah who also happens to be the head of the talent search team and other distinguished personalities in Ghana football.

Speaking at the event, reps from Betway Rex Danquah and Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah reiterated their outfit’s unalloyed devotion to the development of football talents in the country in which they have exemplified in the Talent Search initiative.

According to the duo, Betway is not in the country to only make profits but also to help unearth talents and develop Ghana’s most cherished sport.

“This is one of many projects we have undertaken to show our commitment to the people we serve. We want to give the opportunity to players who hitherto may not get an opportunity to showcase their talent. This project is aimed at giving talented footballers the chance to exhibit what they have and gain opportunities to play for established football club.”

On his part former Black Stars skipper and head of the talent hunt team, Stephen Appiah recounted his journey to the top and advised young players to be focused and determined.

The Communications Director of GFA Ibrahim Saanie Daara welcomed the initiative and assured the betting company of his outfit’s unwavering support.

The project will see the Talent Search team comb every nook and cranny of this country to discover Ghana’s next football star.

About the Initiative

The Betway Talent Search will host aspiring footballers looking to test their skills under the watchful eyes of professional scouts as they compete for a place in the final 16 who will be invited to attend a specialized football training camp.

This camp will be headed by Stephen Appiah, renowned scout, Eben Sefah, David Accam, coach Maxwell Konadu and 4 other assistant scouts.

From this camp, 1 lucky footballer will find himself the winner of grand prize and a potential trial with a Ghanaian Premier League club.

The first 500 entrants to apply for the initial round in each region will be accepted. Betway will contact the successful entrants, inviting them to the Betway Talent Search itself which will be held on the following day;
