Ghana U17 women’s coach Evans Adotey has downplayed his team’s double defeat against Nigeria.
The Black Maidens suffered defeats in the two-legged friendly against Nigeria. Ghana lost 2-1 at home on Sunday to finish the tie with a 5-1 aggregate defeat.
But coach Adotey says meanings should not be read into the defeats as he prepares the side for the World Cup in Costa Rica.
“This is the reason why we organized this friendly so that we can assess ourselves,” Adotey told Metro FM.
“Some of the weaknesses of our team have been revealed through this friendly and we look to solve them before the World Cup.
“These defeats should not make us panic at all because I can assure you the team will be ready to make Ghanaians proud at the World Cup.”
The team will spend some few weeks in Ghana before the squad is named for a training tour in the USA ahead of the World Cup which kicks off in March.
Ghana is drawn in Group B of the World Cup alongside North Korea, Germany and Canada.
