Miss Kulu Yahaya, a player of the national women's soccer team, the Black Queens, on Saturday presented a set of jersey worth 550,000 cedis to her club, Ashaiman Ladies, at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Miss Yahaya, 23, said her gesture was in appreciation of the training and support given to her by the executives of the club to gain selection to the Black Queens.

She said she used part of her per diem at the last Women's World Cup in the United Sates of America to purchase the jerseys and urged the players to handle it with care.

Miss Yahaya appealed to ladies to show interest in football because it does not only build their physique but also help promote the image of the nation. Mr Paul Arthur, Chairman of the Club who received the jerseys said the club formed six years ago, has not been performing well due to lack of funds. He appealed to individuals and organisation for sponsorship.
