Black Queens ready for Tunisia in AFCON qualifiers

Ghana’s female national team, the Black Queens will face Tunisia in the second round of the 10th African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers in Cameroon later this year.

The first leg will be played in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, on April 9, whilst Ghana will host the return fixture in Accra, on the 12th of April.

Ghana together with four other countries; Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria- were drawn bye for the first round of the qualifiers, which started early this month.

Meanwhile, Tunisia defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 on aggregate to qualify for the final stage of the qualifiers.

The Black Queens started their preparations for the qualifiers in February when coach Yusif Bassigi invited 24 players for camping at Prampram.

The Black Queens are three times runners up of this competition. Ghana is ranked 48 on the current FIFA women’s ranking with their opponents ranked 71.

The Africa Women Cup of Nations was until 2015 called the Africa Women’s Championship. It is similar to the men’s version of Africa Cup of Nations.

Seven team will qualify to join the host nation, Cameroon for the competition, which begins from 19 November to 3 December 2016.
