Black Queens seek win over Egypt

Ghana is guest to Egypt in the Caf Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament for the 2016 summer games.

The Black Queens have arrived in Cairo for the first leg of the second qualifying round to Rio scheduled for Saturday in high spirits.

Team captain Mercy Myles says the Ghana women’s senior team are ready for the task and determined to go all the way and seal one of two available tickets by the end of the qualifying campaign.

“Through hard work and determination, we were able to qualify for the All Africa Games against Zimbabwe. We want to qualify as well to the summer Olympics in 2016 and we are determined to begin that with a very good result against Egypt this weekend.

“We have been camping for some time now and with the [Ghana women’s] league in session, we feel much fitter and in form now than before,” she said.

The Black Queens are without regular forward Samira Suleman who recently secured a deal with a club in Iceland.

Ghana will host the reverse fixture on May 29.
