Coach of the National Under-20 team, Mas-ud Didi Dramani has described Ghana’s exit from the African Youth Championship (AYC) as a major setback in the development of the current crop of players.

The Black Satellites were knocked out on a 3-2 aggregate by Senegal in Cape Coast.

U-20 tournaments have served as a major springboard for many young Ghanaian footballers to make a leap into professional football.

Dramani says the process of monitoring the development of the players needs to continue.

“It is a setback in the sense that, where we had targeted to have taken these boys did not see the light of day. It’s unfortunate,” Didi told Ultimate FM.

“What we had worked on should have been able to take us through to the next stage base on the plan and the objectives we had set.

“Moreover, we wanted to continue with the consistency and development.

“But the entire youth team is a process, so we need to see them in their movement in short, medium and long term.”

Head of the Technical Director at the FA, Oti Akenten has revealed to Ultimate FM Sports, that the FA has plans to graduate the under-20 squad to the Black Meteors level.
