Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, has blamed Black Stars' struggles on the mishandling of team captaincy by football authorities.

The issue of captaincy has long been a contentious topic in Ghanaian football, often leading to internal conflicts and public outcry for better management.

Recently, Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has reignited the debate.

"If we don't try to remove that thing... Jordan was made a captain for a while, later he was no more...that is why the African Cup of Nations we didn't go anywhere," Oppong Asamoah stated during an interview with Happy FM, as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com

He emphasized that the ongoing captaincy saga overshadows coaching efforts, warning that without resolution, "we can go and bring Maresca, we can go and bring who and who... if we don't manage the captaincy well, the guys will continue to disappoint us."

Fans now await proactive steps to address these leadership issues within the team.
