Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minister of Youth and Sports said ex-Black Stars coach Guiseppi Dossena was " a problem child " who left behind him large bills at the peril of the Ghanaian tax payer.

Addressing media practitioners at Meet the Press series of his Ministry in Accra on Tuesday, the Minister said the Italian coach rejected everything offered him and chose what was detrimental to the welfare of the Ghanaian.

He therefore asked all Ghanaians, especially journalists to support the use of indigenous coaches in order to eliminate waste of public funds as was synonymous with the era of Dossena. The minister said there was still an unpaid bill of 70 million cedis, incurred by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on car rental services enjoyed by the Italian coach during his two-year tenure with the GFA.

Mr Mensah said, if Ghanaian coaches were motivated sufficiently, they would achieve greater heights for the nation than foreign coaches who were pampered, but who could not justify the bills they draw by way of results.

He said all the four Nations Cup victories recorded by Ghana were under the tutelage of Ghanaian coaches and wondered why Ghanaians should be clamouring for foreign coaches. " Cameroon won the Olympic soccer gold with black men in charge. And when the cedi was having problems why didn't Ghanaians call for a foreign Governor of the Bank of Ghana"? he asked.

The minister asked Ghanaians to desist from backbiting and rumour mongering and join hands together to take Ghana sports back to its glorious days.
