Former Black Stars midfielder, Anthony Annan says he is not sure that his exclusion from consecutive national teams call ups in the last few years is because of playing time.
Annan was instrumental in the Black Stars team of 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) but has been missing in the recent national team call ups by Avram Grant, and James Kwesi Appiah.
Reacting to his recent exclusion from the national team in an interview with Cape Coast-based Live FM, he refused to attribute it to a lack of playing time.
“I’m now playing in Finland and we are only two Ghanaians playing here. I’m not sure that it is because of playing time that is why I don’t get national team call ups.”
He added that he never consulted any coach for tactics before games throughout his stay in the national team.
“I never called any coach during my Black Stars time to teach me anything before a game.”
On the issue about the Coronavirus pandemic, he said “yes corona didn’t come at the right time and it has affected us badly,“ said Anthony Annan.
