Former Black Stars player, Augustine Arhinful believes that the current Black Stars team have everything it takes to win the AFCON but needs luck to achieve the ultimate.
Arhinful continued that the Stars have endured an impressive AFCON participation since the team’s poor performance at the 2006 edition in Egypt.
In an interview, Arhinful who believes the team have been unlucky not to win the AFCON in recent years noted that the team will surely win the accolade soon.
“I believe we don’t lack anything but just luck, apart from 2006 we have performed very well after,” Arhinful said.
“It’s just only luck; it is the favour we just need from God. I believe Ghana name has been written somewhere, but the time to win that one I can’t say only God who knows.
“I believe it is left with luck, we have not had the luck on our side just look at the last AFCON our opponent missed first two penalties, but we lost the trophy, you can’t tell me that penalties are about experience even great players sometimes misses penalties at crucial moments.”
“I think the time destine for Ghana isn’t up, our effort can’t bring the trophy, but the trophy will come by itself. I believe in destiny.”
“There is an English saying, ” When you are destined to win something there is no way you will miss it at that crucial moment, so let pray for luck and favour,” he added.
The Black Stars qualified for next year’s AFCON in Gabon after defeating Mauritius 2-0 away from home.
