Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - Herbert Addo, Coach of the Black Stars, has described Ghana's group at the second edition of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) as a "'dangerous" group, capable of causing upsets in the competition.

Ghana is pitched in group B with Niger, South Africa and Zimbabwe in the competition, which spans February, 4- February 25, 2011, in Sudan. "Niger eliminated Nigeria from the competition, whilst, South Africa's squad is made of up of players who played at the 2010 World Cup and could be said to be better exposed for the CHAN competition.

"Likewise Zimbabwe, they have a cream of their players playing on the local scene unlike Ghana where we are hit by the exodus train on frequent basis, so they will be presenting a very formidable side.

"From all indications it is not a name group, where you will have the likes of Nigeria, Cameroon and others and this is what makes the group a dangerous one," he stated.

According to the coach, the only way to overcome these challenges was to prepare the team adequately for the competition. He said, the team would engage in several competitions, to present a side capable of standing the threats posed by the group members. The coach, who is currently in phase two of the preparations towards the competition with 30 players in camp, after completing phase one last week told the GNA Sports that, preparations would enter the third phase next week, The coach said the third phase of the competition would see a blend of members of the first and second phase team with some additions. He said the final team that would be selected would engage in series of friendly matches locally and on the international scene. "This will give the players the needed exposure for the competition as well as build their confidence level for the task ahead." The Coach was confident that the team will succeed despite the challenges. 30 Nov. 10
