The technical team of the Black Stars reported for the team’s first training session held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 2, 2024, ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Kumasi.
The technical members involved in the car crash included head coach Otto Addo, assistant coach John Paintsil, and goalkeeper's trainer Fatawu Dadua.
The trio escaped the near-fatal accident on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road while returning to Accra after watching the Champion of Champions game between Ghana Premier League winners Samartex FC and FA Cup champions Nsoatreman FC on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
The Black Stars technical team was travelling in a Land Cruiser SUV belonging to the Ghana Football Association’s vice president, Mark Addo.
They escaped from the accident unhurt but experienced some discomfort. Despite the traumatic experience from the accident, the coaches were able to make it for the Black Stars' first training session and supervised the training smoothly.
The training saw the participation of eight Black Stars players and two goalkeepers.
The team included captain Thomas Partey, Antoine Semenyo, Thomas Brandon Asante, Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Osman, Fatawu Issahaku, and Ebenezer Anang.
Asante Kotoko’s Fredrick Asare and Jojo Wollacott were the only goalkeepers present.
The team is expected to depart for Kumasi on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, to prepare for the match against Angola on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
