.....government must shun hypocrisy

The People’s National Convention joins in prayer for the players, technical team and management of the Black Stars on their historic 3rd appearance at the World Cup in Brazil.

Although placed in a group soccer pundits acknowledge is amongst the group of death, the PNC is convinced that the team spirit, resilience and “can-do-spirit” displayed during the qualifying campaigns and recent matches should spur them on. Our players and technical handlers should not be cowed into fear given that they are behind the rest of our opponents in the latest FIFA rankings. Rather, as “underdogs”, they should become the “David” that conquers all “Goliaths”!! However, the PNC finds it disturbing and hypocritical of government that the Ministry of Youth and Sports would without shame trumpet the “partisan” approach to selecting supporters to be air-lifted to Brazil in the coming days. The government saw it fit to call all political parties to Senchi in order to discuss the country’s economic crises, but has not seen appropriate applying the same yardstick for this soccer fiesta. This is another testimony of the “winner takes all” syndrome in Ghana and smacks of exclusion, neglect and double-standards by a government that deemed it prudent for diverse ideas on solving economic problems but not for soccer Mundial!!

In spite of Governments exclusionary approach, we urge the Black Stars to reach for the gold at the world cup as the ultimate is within their reach. They can be assured of our prayers and support through the rest of the journey as we have done.

The world is at hand for conquest by the Black Stars.
