Ashanti Gold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has jumped to the defense of Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye, blaming his own goal on supposed poor quality of the Mitre ball.

The Burkinabe goalie could not control a back pass from Richard Akrofi which saw the ball crawl into the net as he was left disappointed.

Critics have taken to social media and other media platforms to chastise him for the unforgettable howler.

But Dauda has explained the goalkeeper cannot be solely blamed for the goal conceded, but rather the Mitre balls being used.

“We all watched the game on television. When I saw the back pass to Soulama the ball was bouncing and he used the right technique to clear the ball. But unfortunately it entered the net and the ball is the problem because I have been using it. You can’t complain because that is the situation we find ourselves in”, the Black Stars shot-stopper told Starr Sports.

Dauda has also told his colleague goalkeeper to put the disaster behind him and psyche himself for their next game.
