Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored a stunner from within the 18-yard box to put Jiangsu Suning 2-1 up in an international friendly against Southampton.
He scored in the 34th minute only for Nathan Redmond to level for The Saints just before the break and Samuel Gallagher to score what became the winner in the 77th minute.
Boakye had returned to match fitness following an ankle injury only last Sunday to produce a man-of-the-match performance in a stalemate against Guangzhou R&F in the Chinese Cup.
There are rumours that Boakye, 25, is returning to Europe on loan because he not happy in China but that was not evident in this match. With such stellar performances, it is unlikely Suning will let him leave.
It is known that Coach Cosmin Olâroiu is a big admirer of the Ghanaian striker but with Chinese clubs allowed to feature only three foreigners at a time, Boakye could be forced out if another striker comes in.
Boakye’s injury limited him to only 8 games of the first round of the league, scoring twice and assisting twice.
