Boateng willing to represent Ghana

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng insists he is now eyeing a call up from Ghana coach Avram Grant after his successful season in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 22-year-old, who began his career with Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, joined LA Galaxy from Swedish Allsvenskan side IF Helsingborg last season, scoring four times in 28 appearances.

Although Boateng recently acquired a United States passport which makes him eligible to represent the Stars and Stripes, he says he would grab the opportunity to play for his country of birth.

''I was born and raised in Ghana and I've a lot of friends there. When it comes to the decision of playing a national team football, I think I'm ready for the task,'' Boateng told Angel FM.

''If the coach of Ghana gets in contact with me and tells me that he's in need of my services, depending on the kind of talks we will have, I think I'll make myself available for Ghana.''

''But then again, should I receive an invite from the coach of United State while waiting for the Black Stars call-up, I think I'll consider the one that will be more serious in my pursuit. I'll like to play for Ghana and will be very much elated to embrace such an opportunity but it is all about time and the opportunity that will available,'' he added.

Grant is yet to announce the Black Stars provisional squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Ghana are pitted against Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D.
