Boxing fans in and around Cape Coast will be given a special treat of their favourite sport today free of charge.
The boxing tournament dubbed "Akotoworabamu nites" promises fans a nite of fire, thrills and excitement at the Elmina Taxi Station at Kotokuraba.
By courtesy of Sports Desk of Radio Central, GBC's Regional FM station and De-Hawk Boxing Academy, managed by Sam Akromah, the former Africa and Commonwealth super featherweight who organised the tournament, fans would see some of their favourite up and coming fighters display their skill and aptitude in the punch-game live.
Contenders will be from the De-Hawk Boxing Academy at Cape Coast and Bukom in Accra.
Cape Coast's sensational Ali Alabi will lock horns with Eddie Brew from Accra in the super-featherweight division, which is the main bout.
Dreadful Kwesi Nimo of Cape Coastwill also match cuff with Dan Fynn of Accra in the lighweight division which also promises lots of fireworks for the fans.
The fight of females, which is the side attraction would see Yarkor Chavez and Amerle Turkson both from Accra facing each other.
According to the Secretary of the Organising Committee, Mr Twintoh Walker, the sport has been at its lowest ebb at both the district and regional levels and the tournament is to rekindle people's interest in it. He said the programme is the first in the series of others to be organised on April 20 and May 4, 2002 at the Tantri Accra Station and London Bridge both at Cape Coast.
Mr Walker expressed the hope that the committee would extend the sport to other districts in the near future.
