Ace sports broadcaster, Bright Kankam Boadu, has slammed Mustapha Ussif, naming him as Ghana's worst sports minister in history.
Kankam Boadu, speaking on his sports show on Pure FM, raged over the unavailability of a standard stadium in the country while millions were spent on the 13th African Games.
He described the minister as the worst in history for overseeing alleged scandalous spending on the games and could not fathom why he is still in office.
"That man shouldn't be our sports minister. We have not had the worst, but this is the worst. And this is the one who has kept his position regardless of how bad he has been, which means that the president likes what he is doing," he said.
Kankam's assertion was in reaction to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) withdrawing its approval of Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host Ghana's remaining home games in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has directed the Ghana Football Association to submit the University of Ghana Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium for consideration to host the remaining home games.
Meanwhile, a ranking member of the Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee of Parliament, Kobena Woyome, has revealed that the ministry spent a staggering $245 million on the African Games hosted in Ghana in March 2024, adding that $15 million was spent on athletes' food alone.
"You are spending $245 million, and out of that, we got to know that a whopping amount of $15 million was used to feed athletes for 18 days," he said.
"You realize that some of these things need to be investigated. We wanted to know how many athletes actually made it. How many got registered? In fact, we need to get a report from the games management system because the system must be able to tell us. How many actually came and participated in the Games? All these details we would want to know."
