The most sensational walker, Stanley Brimah of Cape Coast who has won almost all the competitions that has been held this year has yet again won the 6th edition of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye walk with a time of 1.33:14.

He was followed by Ahmed Tijani Sanni of the Ghana Navy with a time of 1.34:56. The third position was taken by John K. S. Segbe of the Volta Region with a time of 1.35:33. Whiles Odunuga John Oluwale of Nigeria placed fourth with a time of 1.36:30.

A second Nigerian in the name of Adebayo Emmanuel Bada came tenth with a time of 1.47:01. The walk started with about 150 walks from all over the country including the two Nigerians. At the first ten kilometers, almost all the top walkers in Ghana surrounded the two Nigerians so that they would not pose a threat of disgracing them on their home soil, after the ten (10) kilometers however, the ace walker, Vincent Asumang and Stanley Brimah took the lead and the Nigerians were nowhere to be found.

Just after the eleventh kilometers, Asumang stopped leaving Brimah to lead the race throughout. In an interview with most of the top walkers in Ghana, they attributed their success to the help that they constantly receive from the club’s foreign coach, Dave Macgovern of USA, Albert Nukpezah and Vincent Asumang.

In an interview with the two Nigerians later on, they said that after walking for four years in Nigeria, this has been their first international competition and so they did not necessarily come in to win but to learn and they would have taken the opportunity to win if it came.

They said therefore that they were going to do their homework well and meet Ghana again.

The Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area Nana Kwesi Atta II presented an Alitalia sponsorship air ticket, One Million Cedis cash and some products from Energizer, Parleys Biscuit and Voltic Mineral Water to the winner whiles the second and third had six hundred and four hundred thousand respectively, whiles the two Nigerians were presented with certificates and training equipment, including some of the shoes that were sent by the American walkers.

The first ten walkers were hosted by Biriwa Beach Hotel, El-Wak Keep Fit Club Accra and Savoy Hotel.

In an interview with the organizing secretary of the Visco Walking Club, Mr. Salali Segbefia, thanked the following companies for their support, Savoy Hotel, Parleys Biscuit, Alitalia, Voltic Mineral Water, Biriwa Beach Hotel, Ash Foam and Energizer.
