The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Youth, Sports and Culture Committee, Mr Kwabena Mensah Woyome, is demanding closure to the case involving former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The former GFA President was banned for life by world football governing body Fifa.
Mr Nyantakyi is banned from taking part in all football-related activities.
The life ban followed extensive investigations by Fifa’s Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee into the conduct of Mr Nyantakyi who was captured on tape receiving a bribe in an exposé by Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Mr Woyome, who is also the MP for South Tongu said on Wednesday, 22 May 2019 that: “We should bring this to a closure if an investigation had been done fully, thoroughly and they said having done this a, b, c, and d, we brought this to a closure because this is what it is”.
“We’ve not been able to identify anything that probably will suggest he’s being prosecuted. I mean that hasn’t been said and, so, we’re just left in limbo”, he told Accra-based Citi FM.
